The Buyer will develop and execute merchandising strategies that maximize sales, margin, inventory turnover, visual presentation and customer satisfaction. They are responsible for the initial implementation and daily execution for planning, analyzing, forecasting, and distribution of the Fresh Produce merchandise while adhering to company strategies.

Color Commentary

  • Own the merchandising strategies in retail stores and Ecommerce.
  • Partner with managers to develop seasonal strategies that align with overall strategic vision.
  • Develop and articulate a point of view about product assortment and business opportunities weekly.
  • Finalizing the buy plans, ensuring they are within the financial budget, and address consumer needs.
  • Measure weekly, monthly and quarterly sales and inventory performance. Identify and communicate business opportunities and risks through this assessment.
  • Strategize, recommend, execute and recap seasonal markdowns and promotions.
  • Develop the assortment plan and product flow strategy and plan.
  • Responsible for the allocation plan.
  • Support the in-season management/open-to-buy process.
  • Compile and analyze seasonal and hindsight information. Analyze historic data, trends, product assortment, and competition to develop the strategy. 
  • Understand competitive environment; proactively seek market knowledge through exposure to competitive retail outlets. 


Where you’ve spent your time and what you are good at

  • Bachelor Degree or equivalent. 
  • 3-5 years of retail buying or merchandising experience.
  • Possess a working knowledge of financial measurements and how to leverage data. 
  • Demonstrate a clear point of view about product assortment and business opportunities. 
  • Maintain a cooperative team environment that promotes high performance standards and attainment of goals. 
  • Ability to initiate robust conversations with planning/creative counterparts and vendors to manipulate levers that drive business goals.
  • Demonstrate strong listening, verbal, written, negotiation, and presentation skills. 
  • Can handle competing priorities with the ability to multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Has a customer oriented viewpoint.
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%
